The
goal of this enrichment group is to promote independent learning. The
focus is on challenging and thereby enriching high achieving students
through academic, intellectual, and spiritual exploration.
Traditionally, the program is open to students in grades 5 – 8 who meet
specific criteria. These include students who have:
maintained
a 90% or better average on their report card from the previous year,
the
complete support of their parents / guardians,
receive
the recommendation of two faculty members,
demonstrated self motivation and can work well in a group,
the
approval of the principal, and
sterling
conduct reports.
Students must maintain
the academic averages and good conduct throughout the year, or they can
be removed from the circle. The program requires an understanding of the
requirements of the work and a commitment to seriously approach the
tasks at hand by the students and their parents / guardians. The
students are required to attend weekly meetings, and participate in all
activities, trips, and projects mandated by the group. The group will
select projects to work on throughout the year culminating with a
presentation at the annual Aquinas Expo.
We currently have 30
students participating in this learning experience.
